NovaCast operates in a traditional industry where sustainability can be difficult to achieve due to the processes involved in a foundry environment. The management team at NovaCast is determined to drive up environmental and sustainability standards within the business and throughout its supply chain.
NovaCast uses the EcoVadis criteria to actively assess and evaluate the impact of a broad range of non-financial management systems including Environmental, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. NovaCast further demonstrates its commitment to engaging with organisations focused on improving the environment by reporting its scope 1, 2 & 3 Greenhouse Gas Emissions under the GHG Protocol and reports to the Carbon Disclosure Project.
In 2022 NovaCast achieved a sustainability score that is way above the industry standard and has further improved that score in 2023 placing it in the top 15% of companies using the platform globally during 2023.
This outstanding progress shows what can be achieved with sufficient focus, management backing and commitment throughout the business. This is, however, a journey of continual improvement and the Silver Medal from EcoVadis is simply a recognition of the progress made to date. NovaCast will continue to push for greater improvements, both within its own business and throughout its supply chain.
Waste, pollution, high energy usage, toxic emissions and the like have been the norm for many years but companies with more enlightened leadership, such as NovaCast, are starting to show how things can be done differently, and better.
